Are you looking for new artwork to spruce up your home? Or maybe just looking for unique Friday night plans? Meet and support local artists at the Dilworth Artisan Station Spring Open House this evening (May 3rd) from 6 PM to 9 PM.
Dilworth Artisan Station is located in popular South End. If you’re walking the Rail Trail around Kingston Avenue, you’ll immediately notice colorful art window panels across a century-old building. The property was once home to a furniture factory, textile factory, parachute factory (I’m not kidding!), and a storage facility during World War II. To read more about the history of the property, visit: https://www.charlotteobserver.com/news/business/biz-columns-blogs/development/article226763154.html.
Guests of the Spring Open House will tour the historic mill building while viewing paintings, drawings, and sculptures from 26 local artists. Wandering the halls is like traveling through an art maze. There is inspiration around every corner with many different artistic genres and styles represented: landscapes, figurative, surreal, abstract, and portraiture. The opportunity to mix and mingle with the artists is what makes this event truly unique. Not only can you purchase one-of-a-kind pieces, but you can chat with the individual artist about the inspiration behind those pieces. And, trust me, there is a story behind every piece!
