Summer is in full swing and the sunshine is beaming through the trees on East Blvd. Morning or afternoon, its always a great time to break out the running shoes and hit the pavement of the booty loop with our friends at the Charlotte Running Co. for their group runs.
Whether youre new to Dilworth or a longtime resident you know how the charming, historic streets draw us out to enjoy nature and the neighborhood at its finest in the summer. The experts at the Charlotte Running Co. in Dilworth are accomplished, professional runners with a wealth of knowledge for those of all backgrounds. They are a gem to the city and strive to provide the Charlotte fitness community with the best possible product and customer service available.
We had the privilege of interviewing Scott Dvorak, the Owner of Charlotte Running Co. to find out more about his company and what he thinks about Dilworth.
Scott has competed in triathlons, Ironman and trained for the Olympic team in the late 90s. He currently sits on the Board of Directors for two organizations. Cross-Country For Youth, a 501c3 non-profit program designed to introduce youth to the sports of cross-country combined with the introduction of character development concepts. Scott also sits on the Board of Directors for the Independent Running Retailers Association, which represents the interests of running specialty retailers and vendors across the country.
How long has your business been in Charlotte? 13 years. In 2004 we opened up in Dilworth.
Why did you choose Dilworth over other areas in Charlotte? There is a real sense of community here. We have group runs together, the booty loop is awesome too. The overall beauty of the area is bar none.
What have you come to love about the neighborhood? Its cohesion sets it apart and its beauty.
What is your favorite experience or most surprising experience about being located in Dilworth or having Dilworth customers? Going out for a run and seeing how many people are out. The large oak trees. There are so many activities here including bike races, the Greek festival, Jubilee, and 5ks to participate in. The Charlotte Running Company manages several races throughout the year, including two of Charlotte’s largest, the Charlotte SouthPark Turkey Trot 8K, and the Charlotte RaceFest Half Marathon and 10K Run.
What is your favorite lunch or dinner spot in Dilworth? Id say 300 Eastfor lunch or dinner. Although a sandwich for lunch at the East Blvd. Bar and Grille is great too on the outdoor patio.
Any partnerships or good working relationships with other Dilworth businesses? Queen City Bicycles. We also work with many non-profits including the Cupids Cup 5k & Fitness Walk with Carolinas Healthcare Foundation.
What sets you apart from other specialty shops in Charlotte? Our knowledge base. We dont just sell shoes. We are particular about our hiring process and hire well trained runners, those with experience and a solid education. The great community here distinguishes us as well.
