Dilworth Tree Canopy Planting
When you ask Charlotte residents what they love about the Dilworth neighborhood, most say the same thing – tree-lined streets. Dilworth is Charlotte’s oldest streetcar neighborhood with roots dating back to 1891. Oak, pine and maple trees have life expectancies around 300 years, which means many of the mature hardwood trees are at the end of their life cycle.
Dilworth Community Association’s Tree Canopy Committee was created to preserve Dilworth’s vibrant tree canopy. They identify aging trees, protect healthy trees and plant new trees. You may have noticed some new trees this week along both sides of East Boulevard – those trees are courtesy of the Tree Canopy Committee’s fundraising and efforts!
