Eat, Drink & Gather Thoughtfully at Eight+Sand

Southend’s rail trail is now home to a new creative restaurant and hangout – Eight+Sand Kitchen. The name comes from a term used by train crews that translates to well wishes for a quick and safe journey. Their website explains, “Located on Charlotte’s light rail, it felt fitting to wish our customers and friends a safe journey as they visit us and then go about their day. Whether breakfast, lunch, an afternoon snack or dinner, our kitchen is well-versed to serve your present moment.”

Eight+Sand Kitchen serves made-from-scratch bakery items, coffee and espressos. Their menu also features sandwiches and salads made from locally sourced ingredients. The atmosphere is great for meeting up with old friends or simply finding a quiet corner to work from your laptop.
