The Duke Endowment is moving to Dilworth

The Duke Foundation will be calling the Dilworth neighborhood home in 2013. The Duke foundation is a Charlotte-based foundation that has contributed billions of dollars towards increased standards in education, improved health care and other local area projects. The Duke foundation recently announced it will be relocating from its corporate center location at the Bank of America Corporate Center in uptown Charlotte into a new home in the Dilworth neighborhood.

At a cost of $4.2 million dollars, the Duke Foundation secured 1.8 acres location in Dilworth at 800 E. Morehead St. and plans on buildinga 30,000-square-foot, LEED-certified office building with completion scheduled for the summer of 2013.

The endowment looked at a number of properties before settling on the Dilworth neighborhood site. The Duke Endowment was founded by James B. Duke in 1924 and has since awarded more than $2.7 billion dollars in grants focusing primarily on improved health care and higher education.

The Duke Endowment is sure to be an excellent addition to the already amazing Dilworth neighborhood.
